Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN KIGALI – CITY TOUR & GENOCIDE MEMORIAL VISIT

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, your guide will take you on a Kigali city tour, including: ✔ Kigali Genocide Memorial – A moving tribute to Rwanda’s history ✔ Local markets & cultural centers – Experience Rwandan crafts & traditions After the tour, check into your budget hotel in Kigali and relax.

DAY 2: TRANSFER TO AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK – AFTERNOON GAME DRIVE

After breakfast, take a 2.5-hour drive to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah park and home to the Big Five. Enjoy an afternoon game drive, where you’ll spot elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes roaming the park’s rolling grasslands.

DAY 3: MORNING GAME DRIVE & BOAT SAFARI ON LAKE IHEMA

Start your day with a sunrise game drive, increasing your chances of spotting lions, leopards, rhinos, and other wildlife. In the afternoon, take a boat safari on Lake Ihema, where you’ll see hippos, crocodiles, and exotic water birds such as African fish eagles and kingfishers. After the safari, return to your lodge for relaxation.

DAY 4: TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE FOREST – CANOPY WALK ADVENTURE

After breakfast, depart for Nyungwe Forest National Park, a 6-hour scenic drive through Rwanda’s beautiful hills and tea plantations. Upon arrival, take part in a canopy walk adventure, where you’ll walk on suspension bridges high above the rainforest, offering spectacular views of the jungle and its wildlife.

DAY 5: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING & WATERFALL HIKE IN NYUNGWE FOREST

Wake up early for an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience in Nyungwe Forest, home to over 500 chimpanzees. Hike through the dense jungle and spend one magical hour watching them interact. After lunch, take a guided nature walk to explore beautiful waterfalls and spot rare birds, colobus monkeys, and breathtaking landscapes.

DAY 6: TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK – RELAXATION & CULTURAL EXPERIENCE

After breakfast, take a 5-hour scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park, the home of mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. In the afternoon, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you’ll experience traditional Rwandan dances, storytelling, and local crafts. Prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

DAY 7: GORILLA TREKKING IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK – TRANSFER TO LAKE KIVU

Wake up early for the once-in-a-lifetime experience of gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. After a briefing from park rangers, hike through the dense rainforest to track a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take 2–6 hours, but once you find them, you’ll have one unforgettable hour observing their behavior and interactions. After lunch, drive 2 hours to Lake Kivu, where you can relax by the lakeshore after your trekking experience.

DAY 8: BOAT RIDE ON LAKE KIVU & COFFEE TOUR

Start the day with a boat ride on Lake Kivu, where you’ll visit beautiful islands and fishing villages. Later, take a coffee plantation tour, where you’ll learn about Rwanda’s famous coffee production, from bean to cup. Enjoy freshly brewed coffee while overlooking the lake’s serene waters. Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing on the beach or swimming in the lake.

DAY 9: RETURN TO KIGALI – DEPARTURE

After breakfast, embark on a 4-hour scenic drive back to Kigali. If time allows, explore Kigali’s local markets and craft centers for souvenirs before heading to the airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your incredible Rwanda safari.
