Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN KIGALI – CITY TOUR & GENOCIDE MEMORIAL VISIT

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, your guide will take you on a Kigali city tour, including: Kigali Genocide Memorial – A moving tribute to Rwanda’s history Local markets & cultural centers – Experience Rwandan crafts & traditions After the tour, check into your budget hotel in Kigali and relax.

DAY 2: TRANSFER TO AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK – AFTERNOON GAME DRIVE

After breakfast, take a 2.5-hour scenic drive to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah park and home to the Big Five. Enjoy an afternoon game drive, where you’ll spot elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and antelopes roaming the vast grasslands.

DAY 3: MORNING GAME DRIVE & LAKE IHEMA BOAT SAFARI

Start your day with a sunrise game drive, increasing your chances of spotting lions, leopards, rhinos, and other wildlife. In the afternoon, take a boat safari on Lake Ihema, where you’ll see hippos, crocodiles, and water birds. After the safari, relax at your lodge and enjoy the beautiful sunset.

DAY 4: TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE FOREST – CANOPY WALK ADVENTURE

After breakfast, depart for Nyungwe Forest National Park, a 6-hour scenic drive through Rwanda’s rolling hills and tea plantations. Upon arrival, take part in a canopy walk adventure, where you’ll walk suspended bridges high above the rainforest, getting a bird’s-eye view of Nyungwe’s dense jungle and unique primates.

DAY 5: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING & NATURE WALK IN NYUNGWE FOREST

Wake up early for an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience in Nyungwe Forest, home to over 500 chimpanzees. Trek through the lush jungle and spend one hour observing chimpanzees in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, take a guided nature walk, where you may spot colobus monkeys, rare birds, and breathtaking waterfalls.

DAY 6: TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK – RELAXATION & CULTURAL EXPERIENCE

After breakfast, take a 5-hour drive to Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. In the afternoon, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you’ll experience traditional Rwandan dances, storytelling, and local crafts. Prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

DAY 7: GORILLA TREKKING IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK – TRANSFER TO LAKE KIVU

Wake up early for the once-in-a-lifetime experience of gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. After a briefing from park rangers, hike through the misty rainforest to find a habituated gorilla family. Spend one magical hour observing their behavior and interactions. After lunch, drive 2 hours to Lake Kivu, a perfect place to relax after trekking.

DAY 8: BOAT RIDE ON LAKE KIVU – RETURN TO KIGALI & DEPARTURE

Enjoy a morning boat ride on Lake Kivu, where you can visit coffee plantations on the islands, swim in the clear waters, or simply relax by the beach. After lunch, transfer back to Kigali (4-hour drive) for your departure flight, marking the end of your incredible Rwanda safari.
