Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN KIGALI – CITY TOUR & GENOCIDE MEMORIAL VISIT

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, your guide will take you on a Kigali city tour, including: ✔ Kigali Genocide Memorial – A powerful tribute to Rwanda’s past ✔ Local markets & cultural centers – Experience Rwandan crafts & traditions After the tour, check into your budget hotel in Kigali and relax before the safari begins.

DAY 2: TRANSFER TO AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK – AFTERNOON GAME DRIVE

After breakfast, drive 2.5 hours to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah park and home to the Big Five. Enjoy an afternoon game drive, where you’ll see elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, and zebras. Akagera’s diverse landscapes include rolling savannah, lakes, and wetlands, making it a prime wildlife destination.

DAY 3: MORNING GAME DRIVE & BOAT SAFARI ON LAKE IHEMA

Start the day with a sunrise game drive, when predators are most active. Look out for lions, leopards, rhinos, and antelopes as the sun rises over the savannah. In the afternoon, take a boat safari on Lake Ihema, where you’ll see hippos, crocodiles, and rare water birds like African fish eagles and kingfishers.

DAY 4: TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE FOREST – CANOPY WALK ADVENTURE

After breakfast, drive 6 hours through Rwanda’s scenic hills, tea plantations, and countryside to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Upon arrival, embark on a canopy walk adventure, where you’ll walk on suspension bridges high above the rainforest, offering stunning views of the jungle and wildlife below.

DAY 5: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING IN NYUNGWE FOREST – TRANSFER TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Wake up early for an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience in Nyungwe Forest, home to over 500 chimpanzees. Trek through the dense jungle and spend one unforgettable hour observing these intelligent primates. After lunch, take a 5-hour scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park, home to mountain gorillas and golden monkeys.

DAY 6: GORILLA TREKKING IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK – RELAXATION OR CULTURAL VISIT

Wake up early for the once-in-a-lifetime experience of gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. After a briefing from park rangers, hike through the misty rainforest to track a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take 2–6 hours, but once you find them, you’ll have one magical hour observing their behavior up close. In the afternoon, you can choose to relax at your lodge or take an optional visit to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you’ll learn about Rwandan traditions, dances, and local crafts.

DAY 7: RETURN TO KIGALI – DEPARTURE

After breakfast, take a 2.5-hour scenic drive back to Kigali. If time allows, explore Kigali’s local markets and craft centers before heading to the airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your unforgettable Rwanda safari.
