This 8-day Uganda safari is a well-balanced adventure featuring gorilla trekking in Bwindi, chimpanzee tracking in Kibale, and classic Big Five game drives in Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls National Parks.

Start with chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest, home to over 1,500 chimps and 12 other primate species. Then, continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you’ll experience game drives and a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, famous for hippos, crocodiles, and birdlife.

The highlight of the trip is mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, an unforgettable wildlife encounter. The journey then takes you to Lake Bunyonyi, a scenic paradise, before ending with a visit to Murchison Falls National Park, home to the world’s most powerful waterfall and excellent game viewing.

Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN ENTEBBE – TRANSFER TO KIBALE NATIONAL PARK

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, your guide will transfer you to Kibale National Park, a 5–6 hour drive through scenic countryside, rolling hills, and tea plantations. Arrive in the afternoon, check into your budget lodge, and relax in preparation for the next day’s chimpanzee trekking adventure.

DAY 2: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING IN KIBALE – BIGODI WETLAND WALK

Wake up early for an exciting chimpanzee tracking experience in Kibale Forest. This 1–4 hour trek takes you deep into the jungle to observe these intelligent primates up close. After lunch, take a guided nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, where you’ll see colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and a variety of bird species.

DAY 3: TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK – BOAT SAFARI

After breakfast, take a 3-hour drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s second-largest park. Check into your budget lodge and enjoy lunch before heading out for a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, where you’ll see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and hundreds of bird species.

DAY 4: MORNING GAME DRIVE & ISHASHA TREE-CLIMBING LIONS

Start the day with a sunrise game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, an excellent area to see lions, elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes. In the afternoon, transfer to the Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions, and enjoy a game drive before heading to your lodge near Bwindi.

DAY 5: GORILLA TREKKING IN BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST

Today is the highlight of your safari—mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After a briefing by park rangers, enter the dense rainforest and track one of the habituated gorilla families. The trek can take 2–6 hours, but once you find them, you’ll have one magical hour observing their behavior and interactions. Return to your lodge for relaxation or an optional visit to a Batwa pygmy community.

DAY 6: TRANSFER TO LAKE BUNYONYI – CANOEING & RELAXATION

After breakfast, take a 2-hour drive to Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda’s most scenic lake. Upon arrival, check into your budget lodge and spend the day canoeing, swimming, hiking, or simply relaxing by the lakeside.

DAY 7: TRANSFER TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

Depart early for Murchison Falls National Park, a 7-hour scenic drive through Western Uganda’s rolling hills and lush landscapes. Arrive in the afternoon, check into your budget lodge, and enjoy an evening at leisure.

DAY 8: GAME DRIVE & BOAT SAFARI – RETURN TO ENTEBBE

Then, take a boat safari on the Nile River, ending near the bottom of Murchison Falls, one of Africa’s most powerful waterfalls.
