DAY 1: JOURNEY TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST

The adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from Kampala or Entebbe, where your guide will brief you on the journey ahead. The drive to Bwindi is long, taking about 8 to 9 hours, but the breathtaking scenery along the way makes it enjoyable. As you travel through Uganda’s lush countryside, you’ll pass rolling hills, tea and banana plantations, and small traditional villages. One of the highlights of this journey is a stop at the Uganda Equator Line in Kayabwe, where you can take photos and witness a fascinating water experiment that demonstrates the Coriolis effect—how water swirls differently in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. After a short break, the journey continues with a lunch stop in Mbarara, a town known for its large cattle farms and beautiful landscapes. From here, the road gets more scenic as you approach the Kigezi Highlands, often referred to as the "Switzerland of Africa" due to its terraced hills, misty valleys, and lush forests. By late afternoon, you will arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where you’ll check into your lodge. Depending on your budget and preference, accommodation options range from budget guesthouses to luxury lodges nestled in the forest. After settling in, you can relax and enjoy a delicious dinner while listening to the sounds of the jungle.
